Utilities

  • An experimental level viewer was made by SmallHacker, but the project has been abandoned since.
  • There is only one currently functional tool for hacking Donkey Kong Country, DKEdit, which is/was developed in Japan and is hosted here (English translation). The tool provides the most basic hacking functionality but can only view tile graphics.
  • A slightly more advanced hacking tool, dubbed the DKC Resource Editor or DKCRE for short, is being developed by moderator Simion32 of DKC-Atlas. Its progress is being reported on regularly at this forum thread. While no concrete release date has been proposed, the program is nearing its first editing-capable release and purports to surpass DKEdit in most areas.

Hacks

There are no highly notable Donkey Kong Country hacks, although several Japanese hacks exist.

DKC Reloaded is the only known collaborative DKC hack project, focused mainly around level hacking.

Miscellaneous
