Miscellaneous

There are three major versions of this game. The first (called "Blue" because of the blue Dizzy logo on the title screen) was released in the USA in gold cartridge form in 1991. The second revision ("Red") was released in 1992 for the Aladdin Deck Enhancer NES addon in the USA, and as a plug-thru cartridge in Europe. Again in 1992, an updated Red version (third revision) was released as a standard black cartridge in Europe only.

Basic version differences include:

  • 250 stars to collect in both Red versions, versus 100 in the Blue version.
  • Approximately twice faster walking speed in the Red versions.
  • Reworked inventory system in the Red versions - any item you pick up is automatically moved to the first usable slot.
  • Slight changes to the map, quests and items.
  • French and German languages addition (European Red only).
