Data table

A data table is a section of information within a ROM organized in an orderly fashion. A data table is generally composed of entries all having the same format. Since this information is presented in a regular fashion, data tables are among the easiest sections of a ROM to identify. In many games, information such as enemy and item data are stored in data tables.
The Nightmare Table Editor is specifically designed to work with data tables.
